About the tracker

This tracker was developed by Terminal and is hosted by Pudlez. This tracker retrieves game status every 5 seconds from servers, and auto-refreshes every 30 seconds. I (Terminal) created this tracker to have a d3 tracker webpage that updates rapidly, and to have a tracker that works when tsetsefly.de is offline. This tracker resets itself every 24 hours. If it appears broken (a telltale sign is rows showing -1/-1 players), it will hopefully reset by the next day.

About the servers

As of September 5, 2024, all of the servers listed here are Piccu Engine (1.1.1) servers, which is a special source port of D3 that adds accessibility features to Descent 3 (Retail 1.5 Open Source). The multiplayer experience is particularly enhanced by Piccu, as players now send 30 PPS instead of 12 PPS to servers, and servers send 40 PPS to clients instead of 20 PPS max. The controls are also more fluid. More info is in the section below. If you only have the 1.5 version and NOT Piccu Engine, you can still join Piccu servers, but you will be sending fewer packets to the server, and your controls, FPS, and FOV won't be as enjoyable.
You can NOT join 1.5 (Piccu or not) servers with a retail 1.4 client, and you can't join 1.4 servers with a 1.5 client.

The 40 PPS Piccu Engine servers are owned by both Descentmax7930 and me, and the "DJ" servers run scripts I made to rotate maps. "Condensed Set" is a playlist of 14 maps, which have proven to be popular for small anarchies. "Mixed Bag" is a playlist of 90 maps for variety and casual fun.
Most DJ servers stay on one map for 20 minutes. Mixed Bag anarchy servers (not TA) run for 15 minutes so that people don't have to play a "weird" map for too long.

About Piccu Engine

Stock Descent 3's input polling rate was locked to 20 hz. Piccu Engine's input polling rate is ∞ and can handle thousands of hz for fluid aiming.
Stock D3's packet rate was capped at 12 PPS from clients and 20 PPS from servers. Piccu Engine runs at 30/40 PPS.
Stock D3's framerate needed to be capped at 60 FPS to prevent crashes on modern hardware. Piccu Engine is can be played at hundreds of FPS or at an uncapped framerate.
Stock D3's FOV was 60-70. Piccu Engine can reach 90 FOV at 4:3 and 100-120 on wider resolutions.
Piccu has more features and bugfixes in development!

To install a Piccu Engine release, you need to put the zip's contents into a retail D3 folder. The steam version usually works fine as a base. After adding Piccu Engine.exe, I recommend creating a shortcut to this executable so that you can, in shortcut properties, specify commandline options such as -framecap, -playermessages, -nointro, etc.
